Advice

• Set realistic goals for yourself and your horse
• Every time you use a hand or a leg aid, the horse must respond. Even a bad response is better than no response at all.
• Transitions are the most important part of training. Do about 100 transitions per session.
• Enjoy what you do everyday!

• To be Australian Grand Prix Champions
• Represent Australia at the 2020 Olympics with CP Dresden
• Continue to inspire others to continually better their riding, training and horse management education.

Advice

• Remember even when you are knocked down that you do what you do because you love it….Never lose sight of this!! 
• The more you know about riding the more you realise you don’t know!
• Always remember you are only ever competing against yourself
• Every single ride you are wanting to improve from the day before. Even if it is only one little thing.
• Every single rider needs regular training no matter how good you are. The best riders in the world are only there because they have help every day/week

• Throughout my career I have been extremely blessed to have had vast experience with young horses through to Prix St George and my sights are set to train and ride Grand Prix

Sara:

Remember it is our ambition not theirs. They work because we ask them to. Our
training must always remember that.
Also, you train at home so you can compete at your best, you are not competing
everyday. It took me a while to learn that one!

Deon:

Surround yourself with the best possible people you can. Don’t be afraid
to ask for help.

Future Aspirations

Sara:

Cheval De Luxe will keep doing Grand Prix and we hope that we will keep our
scores improving. I would love to win and open CDN with him (he is not eligible
for a CDI as he is a pony).
NEP Royal Standard will keep working through the levels. I hope to have an
advanced start on him by the end of the year. I will aim him at the PSG Futures
class next year and then (hopefully) keep working onto Grand Prix.
